Over the last 14 years, the Hannover PreMoot became one of the largest and most educational Willem C. Vis Moot PreMoots in Europe. Our aim is to offer all participants the best possible preparation for the oral hearings in Hong Kong and Vienna.

The 15th Hannover PreMoot will take place from 15th to 19th of February 2021. Due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, we have decided to focus on the health and security of every participant and professional. Hence, the 15th edition of the Hannover PreMoot will be a novelty for all of us and be held online as a PreMoot Week in order to enable as many teams and professionals as possible to partake.

1st Virtual Hannover PreMoot Week

This year’s conversion to an online format offers the opportunity to expand the PreMoot – in line with the pandemic – in the sense of a dialogue on the Rule of Law and, thus, to carry the German understanding of the Rule of Law into the world. At the same time, the PreMoot is explicitly set up as a capacity-building project to bring together Vis Moot teams from universities with years of experience and strong bonds to the competition with teams that struggle with financial resources or structural conditions or teams that are new to the Vis Moot.

Schedule

The PreMoot Week is structured in lectures and workshops from Monday to Thursday and pleadings on Friday. The lectures are not only focusing on the problems of the current Vis Moot problem. Rather, such lectures are accompanied by general courses in German law, UN sales law and the law of commercial arbitration. These lectures will be framed by workshops on how to perform in front of the camera and the (virtual) tribunal and, of course, the usual pleadings in order to train and improve the skills of oral advocacy.

The pleadings will be - as you might know from earlier Hannover PreMoots - led by a mixture of experienced practitioners, coaches and former participants. This allows all teams to be prepared in the best possible way for the final rounds in Vienna as well as Hong Kong.
